Local Tastes of Hallowe’en
3 Treats to Eat:
We all have that friend who LOVES Hallowe’en – join in on the fun this year by bringing these ghoulishly easy local treats to the party:
Spooky Apple Smiles
Pick up your favourite local apples from Noggins Corner Farm Market (I used honey crisp in the picture above). Cut them into quarters and shape like mouths. Spread Haskapa jam or a natural nut butter in the middle and add marshmallows or slivered almonds for teeth.
Cheesy Witch Brooms
Cut your favourite Fox Hill cheese into the shape of a broom and stick a pretzel in the top for the handle.
Gluten-Free Pizza Fingers
Use Valley Flaxflour bread mix to make bread sticks – bake for 15 minutes. Generously spread pizza sauce and Fox Hill cheese over top and bake for another 10-15 minutes. Top them with local red pepper “fingernails” and enjoy!
3 Treat Bag Ideas:
You’ll be the talk of the neighbourhood if you give away these local goodies:
Chocolate Mummies and Pumpkins
The Sweet Spot Chocolate Stop offers delicious, seasonal chocolates and you can now get them delivered to your door – order online to fill those Hallowe’en treat bags and to fulfill your own sweet cravings!
A Healthy Twist
Give trick or treaters a Made with Local granola bar for a unique and healthy giveaway.
For the Office
Your co-workers will be amazed if you stop by the NSCC Fresh Cafe for some pastries for the office. Their croissants, breads and delicious treats will keep you coming back at least once a week!
