This week’s What’s Cooking features a chocolate tasting, a bouquet workshop and a cruise! We’ve got events to jam-pack your week — trust us, you won’t want to miss out!

Highlights

Petite Patrie Chocolate

Calling all the chocolate lovers! Petite Patrie Chocolate will be hosting a tasting event on August 6th from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. Experience their decadent bean-to-bar chocolate, using the finest cacao beans and ingredients. Tickets are $30/person and tables are limited to two-four people. Reserve your table in advance by calling 902-713-5084.

What's Cooking

Join Saltbox Brewing Co. August 7 with Coastal Action for a shoreline clean up in Mahone Bay! The Shoreline Clean-up will begin on the Mahone Bay shoreline (across from three churches) and will continue towards town from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. accompanied by region 6 Solid Waste Management educators. The clean-up will finish at Saltbox Brewery where participants can enjoy $5 pints!

If you’re looking for a relaxing night, then Sea Level Brewing is the spot for you! They are hosting live from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on August 7! Tye Dempsey & Fallon Fraser and Sea Level Brewing are launching their Sampler Saturdays for the month of August! Save $2 per tray all day Saturdays throughout August!

Change is Brewing Co., Ambassatours, & Elevate and Explore Black NS

Change is Brewing Co., Ambassatours, and Elevate and Explore Black NS would like to welcome you to their first annual Black Excellence Boat Cruise! On August 7th at 12:30 p.m. dance your way on board the Tall Ship Silva to the beats of African drums by the Halifax Multicultural Drummers. Once onboard sip delicious collaboration beers by Change is Brewing and enjoy your view of the Halifax Waterfront, while listening to reggae roots inspired songs performed by Jah’mila. Tickets are$50/person plus HST and food and beverages are not included in the cost.

Meander River Farm & Brewery

Join Meander River Farm & Brewery August 8th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for their Bouquet Workshop! The workshop will teach you how to make beautiful bouquets with lavender, and includes a delicious lunch, and tour of the farm and brewery. Tickets are $75/person and reservations are required to attend. To book a reservation, visit their website!

Founders House

Enjoy the “fruits” of summer, in the Annapolis Valley with Founders House and Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards. Spend your time tasting and sipping, carefully curated pairings crafted by Chef Chris Pyne, paired with Annapolis Valley wineries. All while learning from the Wine Makers, whose creation you’re enjoying. This event takes place on August 18 at Founders House. Tickets are $160/person. Seats are sold as either tables of two or four, if your group is larger than four call them directly to arrange a table. Book your table on their website.

Garrison Brewing: Garrison Brewing is thrilled to release Queer Summer Brew, which was made in collaboration with Halifax Pride Festival. This refreshing beer will be available in 473ml cans at retail locations, online delivery, Halifax Pride Festival grounds and participating private liquor stores. A portion of the sales from Queer Summer Brew will be donated to Halifax Pride.

Propeller Beer: August 5 is IPA Day, and to celebrate Propeller Beer is releasing their Pacific India Pale Ale to select NSLC stores! You can also grab their Pacific IPA at Propeller shops, Harvest Wines and Spirits, Rockhead Wine & Beer Market and Westside Beer Wine Spirits.

Galloping Cows Fine Foods: Galloping Cows is doing a giveaway of a Nova Scotia Wild Blueberry Glory gift set. This set includes: Wild Blueberry Pepper Jelly, Wild Blueberry Rhubarb Spread, Wildeberry Spread, Wild Blueberry Spread and a Very Berry Concentrate Beverage. Sugar Moon Farm: Sugar Moon Farm is now open for dine in reservations! They are open Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. with limited seating. Due to social distancing, space in the dining room is limited so they can only accept drop-ins if tables are available. Reservations are recommended! Booking is now open on their website through to August 15. 

The Canteen: Starting August 3, Little C is taking a summer break and instead, will be used as additional seating for The Canteen. Reservations are now open on their website! They also offer take out orders that can be placed by calling ahead or pre-ordering online.

Big Cove FoodsBig Cove Foods has newly redesigned Five Spice Pack boxes. Whether you’re camping, cottaging, need a dinner party gift or just want to try some out for yourself… there’s a pack for that. Five Spice Pack boxes are now available on their website!
