Re-open City

Re-Open City Halifax 2020

Since 2012, Open City created by I Love Local HFX  has been the kick-off to the summer season for Halifax’s local shops and restaurants. Whether it’s back door takeout being served by some of the city’s top chefs, live entertainment, or rare deals at local shops, you never know what Open City has to offer.

In 2020, the organizing of Open City has been handed to Develop Nova Scotia, with a few adjustments. As Nova Scotia reawakens, the name of the event is now Re-Open City, and it’s taking place over four consecutive weekends, starting June 27 and ending July 19, with the goal to create a warm, welcoming, and exciting atmosphere across Halifax.

Lobster-Licious Cape Breton

Lobster-Licious is a new local food event running from July 4 – 26, featuring non-traditional and delicious lobster dishes from various food establishments across Cape Breton Island. For every lobster dish purchased at participating restaurants, have the vendor stamp your passport. Three stamps will give you one entry to win a Gourmet Getaway and you’ll receive additional entries for every stamp received after the first three.

Enjoy your lobster-filled tour around the island and make sure you stop by Taste of Nova Scotia members: Glenora Distillery, Governor’s Pub & Eatery, Kiju’s Restaurant, La Goélette à Pépé Café, and Inverary Resort!

Featured Recipe: Lobster Roll Potato Salad

What two things go together better than fresh Nova Scotia lobster and potato salad? This is our take on the combination of the classic lobster roll and potato salad.
