With the new year in full swing our members across the province are keeping busy! Keep reading for this week’s highlights, exciting upcoming events including a Chinese New Year Dinner that you won’t want to miss and a delicious Oyster Rockefeller recipe.

Highlights

The Church Brewing Co.

Introducing #brewgooddogood! Each month, The Church Brewing Co. will highlight one special item with $1 from each purchase going toward a charity of choice. This month, with every purchase of the Do Good Rueben they will be donating to Kings County SPCA!

Shivani’s Kitchen

Shivani’s Kitchen ready-to-use sauces are hitting the shelves of Sobeys throughout Atlantic Canada! You can now pick them up whenever you need a quick and delicious addition to your meals. Find them in the freezer section.

Crystany’s Brasserie

You asked, they listened! Crystany’s Brasserie is having another Chinese food night on January 23rd from 4 – 8 p.m. and they’re offering it for both dine-in and take out. Pre-order your meal by January 20th so you don’t miss out!

The Barn Coffee and Social House

The Barn Coffee and Social House launched their new website this week and you can now order their Sunday Silence coffee and have it shipped right to your door! Visit their website to grab some of your own.

Maritime Express Cider Co.

Maritime Express Cider Co. has just released the perfect cider for these crisp winter days – Winter Peach! A deliciously spiced cider with notes of peach, fresh ginger, and juniper. The aromas of fresh apple and stone fruit with hints of gin is a magical combination! Grab your bottles from their Kentville taproom.

Restaurants and Bars Re-opening

Battery Park Beer Bar & Eatery

With provincial restrictions being lifted on January 4, restaurants and bars within the HRM are allowed to re-open their dining rooms to the public after being closed since November. Our members are working diligently once again to provide you with a safe and welcoming dine in experience. Events

Gabrieau’s Wine Tasting Dinner

Saturday, January 30th, Gabrieau’s in Antigonish is hosting a wine tasting dinner! The 4-course meal prepared by Chef Mark Gabrieau will be paired with the wines of Santa Marguerita from Italy including their Prosecco, Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited. Tickets $70/person.

The Orient Chinese New Year Dinner 2021

The Orient is re-opening for dine-in service on January 15th and they’re starting to take reservations now! Their annual Chinese New Year Dinner will be taking place on February 8th and 9th. Pricing is $108 plus tax per person, and seating begins at 6:00 p.m. Please note, due to safety protocols this year they are only selling by table with five tables each night, so make sure you contact them as soon as possible to book yours!

Featuring Nova Scotia Oysters baked with a garnish, this is the perfect introduction to oysters for those who might be wary of eating them raw. Try pairing them with a glass of Tidal Bay or a classic martini!
