What’s Cooking? November 4- 10
Dig out your fluffy scarfs and cozy mitts, November is here! Not to worry – there’s so many things to get involved in this month and towards the upcoming holiday season. Here’s What’s Cooking this week:
November 5th: Talking Dirty: Digging Nova Scotia Terroir
Talking Dirty: Digging Through Nova Scotia’s Terroir at Wine Grunt Wine Bar is comprised of a special Chef Kevin-inspired five-course menu with informed wine pairings from Bruce Ewert of L’Acadie Vineyards, and complemented by guest speakers who will address different aspects of our local terroir. The event will run from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Tickets are limited – contact Winegrunt by phone or email to reserve your spot!
Starting November 5th: The Wines of France
This is a 6-week, in-depth course designed for the beginner wine-enthusiast looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of French wine at Obladee Wine Bar. Class will be held each Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. beginning November 5, 2019 and ending December 10, 2019.
November 6th: Charlotte Lane Cheese Fondue Night
It’s time to get your “fun-do” on with Chef Roland for the 19th annual Swiss Cheese Fondue Night at Charlotte Lane. It’s a special night for many and the salad plate alone is worth coming for! Such a fun way to spend some time with your cheese loving friends! The cost for this event is $29.95/person. See the the Charlotte Lane Facebook page for more details.
November 7th: Battery Park Meets Propeller
Propeller Brewing Company will be taking over the taps at Battery Park Beer Bar & Eatery for a special lineup! Dead there on Thursday for a delicious brew paired with a delicious meal! This is running all day during their business hours (11:30 a.m.-12:00 a.m.)
November 8th: Holiday Festival & Christmas Open House
Start your holiday season with Jost Vineyards Holiday Festival Weekend and Christmas Open House. Sample complimentary punch and nibbles and enjoy holiday music. There will be tastings, door prize, wine sales, and more! Every day during the festival they will be offering a flight of three wine samples for just $2.00. All proceeds go to the Open Hamper Food Bank. Guests are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item as well. See their Facebook page for more details on this event.
November 8th: Duval-LeRoy Champagne Tasting
Renée Lavallée, Chef at The Canteen & Little C in Dartmouth, and Taste of Nova Scotia’s Culinary Ambassador of the Year in 2018, has created her own special blend of Champagne in partnership with famed Champagne producer Duval-Leroy. Visit the Port by NSLC from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8th, to meet Renée and learn about this unique beverage.
November 8th-9th: Fall Flavours Pasta Making
Learn how to cook a variety of delicious meals while enjoying a relaxing getaway with The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery This particular package is the Fall Flavours Pasta Making Class. It will feature: two hands-on class registrations, dinner on Friday night (in your class), accommodations, and breakfast!

November 8th-10th: Harvest Greets the Holidays
Saltscapes Harvest Greets the Holidays Expo brings all the holiday spirit, all while making an all-local eating and shopping winter season possible for you and your loved ones. The event runs all weekend so check out their Facebook page for a full schedule. Winemakers Dinner (November 16): Planters Ridge Winery is hosting their first ever Winemakers Dinner in partnership with Founders House Dining & Drinks at the Halifax Brewery Market. Enjoy a delicious four course meal thoughtfully paired with wines from Planters Ridge. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with tickets priced at $145.
18th Annual Christmas Tea & Sale (November 16): Join Prescott Group for the best event to attend for unique, handmade and local holiday gifts in North End, Halifax.
