Open City Halifax 

In the mood for a drink and to support local? A few of our amazing members – Garrison Brewing Company and their Oxford Taproom, Propeller Brewing Co., Good Robot Brewing Company, Bulwark Cider, Chain Yard Urban Cidery, Morris East, and Ambassatours – are participating in this years annual Open City HFX on May 11! You won’t want to miss this day of showing appreciation to the entrepreneurs and small businesses of Halifax Peninsula and Downtown Dartmouth that bring vibrancy and life to the community. Organizers encourage everyone to visit as many small businesses as they can; as a bonus, companies will be offering special experiences, such as sidewalk sales, backdoor takeout, shopping deals and more!

Calling all literature enthusiasts! For the Love of Books is an exclusive event bringing you an up-close-and-personal interaction with three of Nova Scotia’s award winning authors. Carol Bruneau, Stephens Gerard-Malone, and Lesley Crewe are spending May 10 and 11 at Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa to share their journeys and inspirations as renowned writers. The weekend includes individual author talks, a group dinner, and pop-up book market provided by retreat partner Nimbus Publishing.

May 24: The Carleton is hosting a Beer Release Party to celebrate a brand new beverage by Garrison Brewing Company and Duke 25 Hops. The festivities will start at 8 p.m. where you can be one of the first to try the new brew while listing to country music from The Desperado Band. Grab your tickets now!

May 29: There’s going to be a Wine Showdown at The Carleton! Avondale Sky Winery and Luckett Vineyards face off over 5 courses prepared by Chef Mathias Probst. Each course is paired with a wine from each winery and at the end of the night you can vote to declare the winner. Get your tickets quick!

May 30: Nova Scotia Cider Association’s Ciders and Sliders is taking place at the Old Orchard Inn! Explore over 30 refreshing ciders from local craft cideries, paired with deliciously savoury and sweet sliders.
